Ariana and Ryan’s early september wedding at upper ranch – The Morning OF
Ariana and Ryan planned an intimate early September wedding at Upper Ranch in Radium, BC in 2025. Despite the haze from the wildfires, it was a beautiful, hot sunny day. I captured this beautiful day on both digital and film and could not have done it without the help of my incredible second photographer, Rachel from Park Photo.
Ariana and Ryan’s wedding morning was very relaxed and laid back. They got ready separately with no plans for a first look that morning. Ryan got ready at the VER Clubhouse not far from the venue. The rustic cabin vibe and high ceilings of the clubhouse offered a spacious getting ready location. Ryan and the groomsmen leisurely got ready together and celebrated before heading off to the ceremony.
Ariana and the girls got ready at an airbnb that wasn’t too far from where Ryan and the guys were spending their morning. The stunning lodge offered picturesque mountain views. Ariana’s bouquet was supplied by Philip Chong Flower Bar just as her sister Fiona’s flowers for her wedding were.
The lodge offered some stunning sunlight through the windows which made for some of my favourite bridal portraits of Ariana.
Ceremony
The ceremony was held at Upper Ranch – a gorgeous property surrounded by mountain views, not far from the town of Radium. The ceremony was on the main lawn, and though the smoke made the backdrop hazy, it was a beautiful celebration of Ariana and Ryan’s love.
Wedding Party
Ariana and Ryan’s wedding colours were varying shades of blue. The boys looked incredibly handsome in their navy blue suits. The ladies wore different styles and shades of blue from Park and Fifth that looked absolutely stunning. I’m a big fan of mismatched bridesmaids dresses! The white roses in the bouquets beautifully stood out among the girls’ blue dresses.
Portraits
There are so many beautiful spots throughout this property. There’s a pond and lots of greenery that offered shade from the hot sun. There are so many favourite portraits of mine throughout Ariana and Ryan’s gallery that it was incredibly difficult to only choose a handful for this post. An important tip I love to offer my couples is to split up their portrait time in order to be present on their day. I never want you to feel like your wedding day is a photoshoot. Ariana and Ryan really had their heart set on stepping out for some sunset photos that evening. This allowed them to be able to join cocktail hour with their guests.
Cocktail Hour
Cocktail hour was held in the lower level of the barn. A beautiful seating chart with Ariana and Ryan’s engagement photos greeted guests as they entered the barn. The band Three Scotch In provided music throughout cocktail hour and the for the dance party later that evening. Guests mingled all over the property. In addition, the scenery offered both mountain views and rolling hills of lush pastures.
Reception & Sunset Portraits
The reception and dinner was upstairs on the second floor of the barn. Ariana and Ryan went right into their first dance following their grand entrance. As the sun began to set around dinnertime, we stepped out for some sunset photos and to cool off from how warm it was inside the barn. Despite the smoke and the haze, we had the most gorgeous sunset. Having met Ariana and Ryan previously at Ariana’s sister’s wedding in 2024, they felt like old friends. Naturally, we had to take at least one photo together (thank you Rachel!)
Final Thoughts on Ariana & Ryan’s Wedding at Upper Ranch
Overall, Ariana and Ryan’s wedding at Upper Ranch was nothing short of the perfect September day. Though smoke and haze is less than ideal on a wedding day, Ariana and Ryan’s commitment to one another held greater weight. Radium is a place they both hold close. It was a fitting location for their wedding celebration. In short, keep in mind the things that are important to you and your partner when wedding planning. Planning a meaningful day with personal touches allows you to make the day entirely yours.
