The Importance of Wedding Albums
One of my fondest memories from when I was still living in Ontario, was going to my grandma’s house. I remember if I found myself bored, I would head into the living room and grab all of our family photo albums, sit on the couch and just flip through. One of my favourite albums my grandmother has is the one of before I was born. The photos are all from the 50s, 60s and 70s when she and my grandpa got married, my mom was born and all the photos of her growing up. Although I was not there to experience those memories, I love that I am able to see photos from events like my mom’s 5th birthday and other family gatherings.
Although I was not alive at that point in time, I do have a connection to those photographs because they are a family heirloom. Looking through the more recent albums of when my brother and I were younger in the 90s and early 2000s, I love the feeling of nostalgia that those photos are able to ignite within me. Some of those events or memories I had forgotten about in the hustle and bustle of everyday life, but the memories come flooding back once I see a particular photo. If I am having a bad day, for example, the trip down memory lane can make me feel a lot better. Time goes on and sometimes things change, but that moment in time will always be preserved within a photo.
The nostalgia and act of reminiscing is what I want my clients to experience with their own photos. Digital photographs are great to have as a backup option for storage and quick sharing in the digital world we live in, but being able to physically interact with a tangible photograph or album is a much more intimate experience. Being able to actually hold your photos in your hands or flip through an album becomes a lot more personal because there isn’t the disconnect between yourself, your photos and a computer screen.
Each wedding album is designed by myself, approved by you and sent in to Dekora where it is printed on the finest archival quality paper. Wedding albums are flushmount, meaning they lay flat on the table when opened. There is a wedding album for every style and every budget. They can vary from high end and hand bound with beautiful heirloom materials to a simple, yet elegant coffee table book to share with family and guests. It would be an honour for me to create your first family heirloom that you can pass down within your family. We live in such a fast paced digital world, I want my clients to be able to take a moment to slow down, look back and reflect on one of the most important days of their life. These albums are an investment to preserve your memories in a tangible way that you will cherish for years to come.
