Ptarmigan Cirque Engagement Session
There is something undeniably magical about the mountains in autumn. The crisp air, the golden hues of the larch trees and quiet solitude make it the perfect setting for your engagement session. This Ptarmigan Cirque engagement session made sure to check all of those boxes.
A Windy Start
As we arrived at Ptarmigan Cirque, the wind was making its presence known as the trees swayed and clouds rolled in over sun kissed mountain peaks. We didn’t have to explore too far from the parking lot as we were surrounded by the most picturesque backdrops. Even though we were not prepared for the sudden change in weather, Meg and Gaby embraced the adventure with their sweet pup, Birdie. These two enjoy camping and adventuring, so it was only fitting that we chose a location in the mountains for their session.
A Change in the Weather
About halfway through the session, the sky darkened as the wind picked up and brought some drizzle with it that turned into steady rain. As a Canmore and Banff wedding photographer, I expect mountain weather to be fickle. Sure enough, the rain stopped as suddenly as it started and the clouds parted just in time to kiss the landscape with the most beautiful golden hour light. Sometimes embracing the elements and unpredictability of the mountains can pay off.
