Heritage Ranch Wedding
With all the craziness going on this year, the blog has been fairly quiet since most of my 2020 weddings have been rescheduled for 2021. I’m so incredibly grateful for the few weddings that I did get to photograph this year. Lynsey and Jason reached out to me six weeks before their wedding date, letting me know they were going to try to plan an intimate wedding in that amount of time and whatever happens happens. I was immediately drawn to their spontaneous attitude despite all the uncertainty surrounding the wedding industry right now.
I knew they’d be an amazing fit with their easy going and adventurous outlook on it all. Their original wedding plans did not move ahead as planned, but their determination to move forward with a wedding anyway is a good reminder of the real reason behind having a wedding in the first place. The desire to so badly want to start your forever with your person and make it official, despite all of the curveballs and cancellations. If you’re reading this and you’re currently in the midst of feeling the uncertainty that is coming your way with planning a wedding right now, my advice to you is to do what feels right for you. Embrace the unconventional and weird that comes with being made to think outside the box right now. Know that whatever you decide will be perfect as long as you’re happy, and as long as you get to marry your person.
Lynsey and Jason’s entire day was so incredibly beautiful and laid back. We started the afternoon off with their first look and moved on to their couple portraits immediately after. This is one of the reasons why I believe first looks are so beneficial on wedding days. Most of their portraits were done within the two hours of me being there. This gave them time to have a snack during cocktail hour and mingle with all their guests, rather than being whisked away for portraits for most of the day. The entire day was overflowing with so much love from those who were able to attend, as well as those who sent their love virtually. I am so grateful that they trusted my creativity, and invited me to capture the start of their venture into married life.
Also a big shout out to the thunderstorm that was forecast for that afternoon for only giving us some light showers. They say rain is good luck on your wedding day, and we had a ton of it.
