Golden Hour Engagement Session at Bighorn Lookout

The serene, picturesque backdrops of the Canadian Rockies make it the perfect place for engagement photos. This golden hour engagement session at Bighorn Lookout was charming and romantic.

A Picture Perfect Setting

In the southern end of Kananaskis, just outside the town of Diamond Valley, sits Bighorn Lookout. With its sweeping mountain views, rugged cliffs, and the Sheep River winding through the valley below, it’s one of my favourite go to spots for engagement photos. For this engagement session, we met right at the start of golden hour as the sun’s golden rays beamed over the valley. I wanted to pivot from my go to of Kodak Portra for this session and wanted to try something new. I decided to bring a roll of Kodak Gold 200 with me and the gold tones of this film stock did not disappoint.

The Session

We captured everything from playful moments to quiet, intimate glances, ensuring Kristen and Michael’s personalities shined through in each frame. Whether it was standing on the edge of the lookout, wrapped in each other’s arms, or running through the meadow as the sun dipped behind the peaks, every image tells a piece of their love story.

Final Thoughts

Engagement sessions are about more than just beautiful photos—they’re about celebrating love, adventure, and the journey ahead. Bighorn Lookout in Kananaskis provides the perfect setting to do just that. Whether you’re planning your own engagement shoot or just dreaming of the perfect location, this hidden gem is one that will leave you with unforgettable memories and breathtaking images.
